Reading opens new centre for Gurkha veterans

A new centre to help support Gurkha veterans and their families has opened in Reading.

Around 1,500 Gurkhas live in the Reading area, many of whom were among those who won the right to settle in Britain three years ago after a public campaign backed by actress Joanna Lumley.

Run by volunteers, the centre in Queens Walk is supported by the charity The Forgotten British Gurkhas.
