Windsor and Maidenhead to get sports cash boost
Two Berkshire towns are to get a £1.3m cash injection for sports and leisure facilities including an improved skate park, squash courts and a gym upgrade.
The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead will approve the funds on Thursday with the bulk of the money coming from developers' contributions.
Nine projects to be carried out also include new play areas and landscape improvements to walking areas.
The projects are due to be completed by mid 2013.
Developers' contributions will total £945,000 with £85,000 coming from the council's capital fund.
The announcement comes after the borough hosted Olympic tourists and the park and ride schemes for the nearby Eton Dorney rowing events.
Adult and community services councillor Simon Dudley said it was "especially timely after the huge success of the Olympic Games and the swell of interest in sport and keeping active".
