Tests on dead elderly Newbury couple inconclusive

Heather Gardens, Newbury Police believe drugs may have led to the couple's deaths

Tests to determine how an elderly couple found at their Berkshire home died have proved inconclusive.

Officers were called to the house in Heather Gardens, Newbury, just after midnight on Saturday.

Paramedics attended, but the 82-year-old man was pronounced dead and the woman, aged 85, died shortly afterwards.

Toxicology tests are now being carried out on the couple, who police suspect took a drug overdose.
