The 35th annual Reading Community Carnival has been staged in Prospect Park.

The event began as part of the Queen's Silver Jubilee celebrations in 1977.

Judy Jones, who has helped make costumes, said: "Everything is themed around the Bajan flag, the colours the fork, it all represents the island in the sun of beautiful Barbados".

Twenty Jubilee beacons have also been lit across Berkshire including fires at Windsor Castle and the Great Park.

The last is being lit by the Queen herself at the end of a special concert being staged at Buckingham Palace.
