Melting Slough ice rink is reopened after repairs

A Berkshire ice rink which was forced to shut because the ice was melting has been reopened after repair work.

A cooling pipe at the town's Absolutely Ice arena in Slough had sprung a leak, meaning the temperature of the ice pad could not be maintained.

The rink was closed last week due to safety concerns for skaters.

But following repairs, with engineers working around the clock, the rink has been reopened to the public after a new ice pad was installed.

Greg Sinclair, managing director of Absolutely Leisure, said: "The new ice pad is now fully functional and I would like to thank all our customers for their patience throughout the period of closure and hope they enjoy the newly repaired facilities."
