A man has appeared in court charged with murdering a woman in Reading.

Sandra Maralhas, 38, was found dead by police after officers were told there was a body at a block of flats in Coronation Square on Friday.

Louis Marrafa, 46, also of Coronation Square, was remanded in custody at Reading Magistrates' Court to appear at the town's crown court later this week.

A post-mortem examination carried out by a pathologist showed that the cause of death was strangulation.
