University's 1,200 new homes plan at Shinfield rejected
Plans to build 1,200 new homes near the near the M4 in Berkshire have been rejected.
The University of Reading had submitted three planning applications for farmland it owns in Shinfield near Wokingham.
It had planned to later sell the land to a developer.
Wokingham Borough Council said the plans did not meet its requirements. The university said it was appealing against the decision.
The proposals also included a new primary school, community facilities and a relief road at the site to the south of the M4 in west Shinfield.
