Two dead after A34 lay-by crash in Berkshire

Two people have died after a van collided with a parked car in a lay-by on a major route through Berkshire.

The driver and passenger of the Mercedes van died when the vehicle crashed with an Audi car on the southbound side, near Chieveley.

The victims were a 22-year-old man from Norfolk and a 25-year-old man from Cambridgeshire.

The driver of the Audi car suffered minor injuries. The southbound A34 was closed but reopened at 1330 BST.

The A34 links the south coast of England with the Midlands.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
