Two men arrested after seven guns found in Reading

Two men have been arrested after seven guns were found by police in Reading.

Officers searched an address in Tilehurst Road on 16 July after receiving information that a firearm could be found at the home.

Six firearms were recovered from the property along with a quantity of compatible ammunition.

An investigation was started which led to the discovery of a seventh gun and ammunition buried in Whitley on 21 July. Two men were held and bailed.

Det Sgt Steve Jennings, from Reading CID, said: "This is clearly a significant find and we have successfully removed seven firearms from the streets of Reading.

"People should feel reassured that we have found these items.

"The weapons are being forensically examined and we are investigating whether they can be linked to gun crimes both in this force area and elsewhere."
