In pictures: Royal Anglians march through Bedford
Up to 160 soldiers from the Royal Anglian Regiment marched through Bedford town centre with fixed bayonets before an inspection in Harpur Square. The regiment was awarded the Freedom of the Borough in 1980.
The infantry regiment has three battalions, the Vikings, the Poachers and the Steelbacks. The 2nd Battalion began its final tour of Afghanistan in February.
They were accompanied by the Band of the King's Division.
The 2nd Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment traditionally recruits from Bedfordshire, as well as Hertfordshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Rutland.
The regiment's regular battalions are based at Bulford in Wiltshire and Cottesmore in Rutland.
