A 44-year-old man has been remanded in custody charged with the murder of a 45-year-old woman in Hertfordshire.

Sally Campion was found with serious injuries at an address in Bartholomew Road, Bishop's Stortford, on Wednesday night, and died in hospital.

Matthew Keough, of no fixed address, was charged after being arrested at Bishop's Stortford railway station.

Judge Andrew Bright, sitting at St Albans Crown Court, adjourned the case for trial on 9 December.

It has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) because Ms Campion had had previous contact with Hertfordshire Police.

Her family requested that their privacy was respected so that they "can be allowed to grieve in peace at this extremely difficult time".
