Lorry on fire M25 The lorry caught fire at about 12:10 BST on Thursday

The M25 in Hertfordshire is blocked in both directions after an articulated lorry caught fire on the anti-clockwise carriageway, police said.

The blaze started just after midday between junctions 22 for the A1081 and 21A for the A405 near St Albans.

Fire crews from Potters Bar, Borehamwood and Garston are at the scene, the fire service said.

Traffic was stopped on both carriageways. There are no reports of any casualties.

Hertfordshire Police said the driver had got out of the lorry and it appeared there were no other vehicles involved.

The force has advised drivers to use alternative routes where possible.
