Bedfordshire police inspector Paul Kelly charged with rape

A Bedfordshire police inspector has been charged with rape and sexual assault, the force said.

Paul Kelly, 43, of Bedford Road, Denton, Northamptonshire, is accused of two counts of rape, two counts of actual bodily harm and one count of sexual assault.

Mr Kelly, who works in Bedford, was suspended from duty last December, a spokesman said.

He is due to appear before magistrates in April.
