Teenager stabbed to death in Bedford

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of teenager from stab wounds in Bedford.

Bedfordshire Police said a murder inquiry had been started after the stabbing in Costin Street in the town centre at about 18:20 GMT on Saturday.

Police said a 20-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the death.

Officers said a number of people were at the scene of the crime and called on anyone who witnessed the attack to contact Bedfordshire Police.

Det Ch Insp Jerome Kent, of the major crimes unit, said there had been reports of people running away from the scene.

"If you are one of these people who only witnessed the assault we need you to come forward to explain what you were doing there," he said.
