Bushey grandmother hurt in arson 'mistake'

A grandmother has been hospitalised after an arsonist targeted her Hertfordshire home by mistake, police said.

She is being treated for smoke inhalation following the attack on her maisonette in Forest Walk, Bushey, just after midnight on 20 September.

Officers said they believe the offender had targeted a specific person but "got the wrong address".

A Bushey man, 31, has been arrested on suspicion of arson and bailed.

Det Con Martin Macnish, from Hertfordshire Police, said: "This was a terrifying and distressing incident for an elderly women who woke up to find flames in her home.

"Although we have arrested a man, we are appealing for anyone to come forward who saw anything suspicious around the time of the fire or knows who may be responsible."
