A 43-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a teenager in a suspected stabbing in Luton.

The body of a 19-year-old man was found in Hastings Street at about 00:40 BST on Friday, police said.

An eyewitness, who lives near the scene, said he saw the teenager staggering down the street shortly before police arrived.

A Vauxhall Astra is being examined by forensic officers as part of the investigation.

It has been removed from the street for further tests.

A nearby house was also searched.

BBC Look East reporter Neil Bradford, who was at the scene, said: "Witnesses say they heard screams and shouts and the sound of doors being kicked.

"One man told me he saw a young man clutching his stomach and groaning in pain. Others say they saw a man being chased."

Police said the death was being treated as an isolated incident.

The suspect was arrested at a house yards from where the unnamed teenager was found in the street.

Police say they are keen to speak to anyone who may have information about the death.
