Rebecca Thompson death: Father in court on murder charge

The father of an 11-year-old girl found strangled in her home has appeared in court charged with her murder.

Simon Jonathan Thompson, 52, of Homefield Road in Bushey, Hertfordshire, is accused of killing Rebecca Thompson.

She was found dead in her home in Bushey by police on Saturday 22 June.

Mr Thompson entered no plea at Hatfield Remand Court and was remanded in custody until Tuesday when he is due to appear at St Albans Crown Court.

He was in a wheelchair, having been in hospital following a car crash.

His left hand was in a cast and his legs were bandaged.
