Watford Costco car park death: Reward offered

Arulchelvam Prasanna Arulchelvam "Nick" Prasanna died 11 days after being found unconscious

A reward of £50,000 has been offered for information about the death of a man who fell from a moving van in a cash-and-carry car park.

Arulchelvam Prasanna, 34, from Watford, died from head injuries a week after the fall at Costco in the Hertfordshire town on 26 May.

Detectives believe the white Peugeot Partner van was being used in a crime.

Police have released CCTV images of the van and have appealed for people who might have seen it to come forward.

Police said Mr Prasanna, of Grandfield Avenue, went to Costco in his silver Ford Transit van at about 14:45 BST on 26 May to buy cigarettes for his shops in Baywater and Sittingbourne.

He then appears to have got into the white Peugeot van, but later fell from it and was found unconscious by passers by.

'Tragic incident'

He died at St Mary's Hospital in London 11 days later, leaving behind his wife and a two-year-old son.

A reward of up to £50,000 has been offered by Crimestoppers and the Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) for information leading to a successful conviction.

Det Ch Insp Jerome Kent said: "This is a tragic incident which has resulted in a young man sadly losing his life.

"We believe the van is a white Peugeot Partner van and that it was involved in crime. Do you recognise this van and know the owner or user of it?

"I am also appealing to any member of the public who may have been approached by the occupants of this van at a retail outlet in Watford or other locations across the South East to come forward."
