River Great Ouse rescue: Man saved by passer-by

An elderly man has been rescued from a Bedfordshire river by a member of the public, police say.

The man, thought to be in his late 80s, is believed to have fallen into the River Great Ouse in Bedford at about 09:00 BST.

A passer-by who pulled him out of the water attempted to revive him. The rescued man he has now been taken to Bedford South Wing Hospital.

Bedfordshire Police said officers were investigating the incident.
