Luton shootings: Man charged with attempted murder

A man from Luton has been charged with attempted murder and possessing a gun after shots were fired at a BMW by a man riding a motorbike, said police.

Two shots were fired at the car in Culverhouse Road on 5 May. The incident happened just hours after a peace rally in the town.

Khadeem Newell, 22, of Jasmine Road, Luton, will appear before magistrates in the town on Monday.

There have been a total of 10 incidents involving gunshots in Luton this year.

Det Chief Insp Dave Quarmby, who is leading the enquiries said Bedfordshire Police will be "relentless in its pursuit of those committing violent crime".
