Chicksands Barracks Martin Kelleher's body was found in an ornamental pond at the base

A serviceman has been found dead at a military base in Bedfordshire.

Martin Kelleher, 37, who lived at Chicksands Barracks, near Shefford, was found dead in an ornamental pond at the base on Saturday.

Bedfordshire Police had been investigating a report that he had gone missing, but said his death was not being treated as suspicious.

The cause of his death has yet to be ascertained. An inquest has been opened and adjourned.
