A 21-year-old man has died following a disturbance at a Hertfordshire caravan site on Tuesday, police said.

The man, who had been shot, was found near the site in Dyes Lane, near Stevenage, by police, who were called out at 23:25 BST.

He was taken to hospital but died from his injuries, officers confirmed.

Part of the northbound A1(M), close to junction 7, was closed as part of the murder investigation but reopened at 05:30 BST on Wednesday.

Detectives from the Joint Major Crime Unit said they believed the offender used a white car and have appealed for anyone who saw one in the Dyes Lane area on Tuesday night to contact them.

Det Insp Sharn Basra said: "I would also like to reassure members of the wider community that at this stage we are confident that this is an isolated incident."
