An 80-year-old woman who was sexually assaulted in her Bedfordshire home last month has died.

The woman, 80, from Houghton Regis, was attacked after opening her door to someone she wrongly thought was a neighbour on 18 March.

At Luton Magistrates' Court last month Darren Emmerson, 40, of Parkside Drive, Houghton Regis, pleaded guilty to sexual assault.

He was remanded in custody to Luton Crown Court on 12 April.

Bedfordshire Police said the charge would be reviewed once the cause of death of the elderly woman had been established.
