Luton shooting victim was related to Delaney Brown
A man who died in hospital after being shot outside a house in Luton on Tuesday night was related to a teenager killed last year, the BBC understands.
The victim, 46, was driven by friends to Luton and Dunstable Hospital with gunshot injuries but died just after midnight, Bedfordshire Police said.
They believe he was injured during an incident in Brunel Road.
Police are keeping an "open mind" as to whether the death is connected to the killing of Delaney Brown.
The 19-year-old died in September after his bicycle was hit by a car on Vincent Road, Leagrave, about two miles away from Tuesday's shooting.Cars abandoned
The Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit wants to trace anyone who saw a white Ford Transit-style van seen speeding from the Brunel Road area.
A silver BMW and a silver Vauxhall Corsa were also found abandoned near the hospital, both of which have been recovered for further examination.
Det Sup Jeff Hill said he "would not be drawn into speculating" on why the man was shot but believed the key to finding out what happened could be found "within the community".
He said: "We will not tolerate gun crime and officers will not leave any stone unturned in the pursuit of those responsible for this man's death."
He urged anyone with any information that may help the murder inquiry to contact police.
A 22-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to Delaney Brown's murder and is due to stand trial on 29 April.
