Woolmer Green police pursuit deaths: Man jailed

Michael Cush was driving a car that hit a lamppost, killing two passengers

A man has been jailed for eight years after a car pursued by police hit a lamppost in Hertfordshire, killing two passengers.

Michael Cush, 27, of Luke Place, Bedford, was also disqualified from driving for ten years when he appeared at St Albans Crown Court.

He had pleaded guilty to two counts of causing death by dangerous driving and one of aggravated vehicle taking.

Two men died in the crash at Woolmer Green, Knebworth, on 2 November.

Karl Spencer, 25, died at the scene and Cameron Nimmo, 20, died the next day.

Jon Boutcher, Assistant Chief Constable for Hertfordshire Constabulary, said: "Our thoughts are with the families of Cameron Nimmo and Karl Spencer at this sad time.

"The sentences indicate the severity of Michael Cush's actions and send out a strong message about the consequences of driving irresponsibly without due regard for the safety of those in your vehicle and other road users."
