Houghton Regis gatecrashed party: Man stabbed

A man was stabbed after a Bedfordshire birthday party was gatecrashed.

The 18-year-old was stabbed three times in the shoulder and back as people were leaving the event in Chelsea Gardens in Houghton Regis, at 22:15 GMT on Friday.

Police said the victim was hit with a bottle and stabbed as he attempted to help a friend who was being assaulted.

Det Con Hayley Williams said: "This was a very nasty attack which could have resulted in far more serious injuries than it did."

She said thankfully the victim did not suffer any lasting damage.

She added: "I want to speak with anyone who was in the area and may have seen this vicious assault taking place.

"The offenders were not afraid to use violence and weapons to cause harm and we must find them as soon as possible to stop them from committing any further offences."
