Man charged over girl's kidnap in Leighton Buzzard

A 75-year-old man has been charged with kidnap and impersonating a police officer over the abduction of a girl in Bedfordshire.

Bedfordshire Police said a nine-year-old girl was taken in the Meadow Way area of Leighton Buzzard on Sunday.

Derek Cheeseman, of Waterloo Road, Leighton Buzzard, has been charged with the two offences.

He was remanded in custody by Luton Magistrates' Court to appear at crown court at a date to be fixed.
