Longest surviving heart transplant patient marks 30 years


The UK's longest surviving heart transplant patient is celebrating 30 years since his operation.

John McCafferty, from Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire, was 40 when he underwent surgery at Harefield Hospital in Uxbridge. He was not expected to survive for more than five years.

He believes keeping active has paid a key role in his survival.
