Two men from Bedford dead following police Audi pursuit

Two men were killed when a car being pursued by police hit a lamp post in Hertfordshire.

Karl Spencer, 25, and Cameron Nimmo, 20, both from Bedford, died from the crash at Mardley Hill, Woolmer Green, near Stevenage, early Friday morning.

Two other men, aged 21 and 26, from Bedford, in the Audi A3, were taken to the Lister Hospital for treatment.

Michael Cush, 26, of Bedford, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

He is also charged with aggravated vehicle taking, failing to stop for police and driving without a licence and insurance.

He has been remanded in custody until 13 November to appear at St Albans Crown Court.

The crash is being investigated by officers from Essex and has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
