Police fire baton round at man in Bedford

A man has been taken to hospital in Bedford after a plastic baton round was fired at him by police.

Bedfordshire Police said officers had gone to the Ampthill Road area of the town at 02:20 BST with a warrant to arrest a man.

A police spokeswoman said a baton round was fired by armed response officers because it was believed the man had a firearm.

He is being assessed by medical staff and will be questioned by police later.
