A 24-year-old man found fatally injured at his home in Hertfordshire died from stab wounds, post-mortem tests revealed.
Darren Leonard, of Northfield, in Hatfield, died in hospital after being found at 23.30 BST on Wednesday.
Police said his death was being treated as murder.
House-to-house inquiries have taken place in the area and patrols have been increased to reassure residents, said a police spokesman.
