Ampthill teenager death: Man remains in custody

Friends have laid flowers at a house in Bedfordshire where a schoolgirl was fatally injured.

Officers began a murder investigation after the body of a 15-year-old was discovered in the early hours of Saturday morning at Ailesbury Road in Ampthill.

Scenes of crime officers are continuing a full forensic examination of the house and the surrounding area.

Bedfordshire Police said a post-mortem examination would take place later.

The Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire Major Crime Unit arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with the death. He remains in custody.
