Woman rescued from Fishermead house fire

A woman has been rescued from a fire in a Buckinghamshire house.

Emergency services were called to the three-storey mid terrace at Fishermead in Milton Keynes shortly before 0150 BST on Sunday.

Firefighters rescued the woman, who was trapped in a first-floor bedroom, and evacuated about 30 people from nearby properties.

The fire was put out at about 0500 BST and no-one was hurt, a Buckinghamshire fire service spokeswoman said.

Firefighters rescued a parrot from an adjoining property.

The fire service said an investigation had started into the cause of the fire.
