Ashford man makes blood clot misdiagnosis complaint

25 August 2014 Last updated at 15:40 BST

A man has made a formal complaint after claiming doctors at a Kent hospital twice failed to spot he had a potentially fatal clot on his lung.

Danny Ayles, from Ashford, said he was sent home from the William Harvey Hospital in August with antibiotics after he was misdiagnosed with a chest infection.

His condition was spotted three days later, when he went to A&E at the Conquest Hospital in St Leonards, East Sussex.

East Kent Hospitals University NHS Trust said conditions like Mr Ayles's could be difficult to diagnose, and that he was able to tell staff in Sussex that he had taken antibiotics without success. Simon Jones reports.
