15 July 2014 Last updated at 20:06 BST

An exhibition has opened in Margate in Kent celebrating "herring lassies"' - the army of women from the North East and Scotland who worked as gutters and packers for fishermen.

The Follow the Herring exhibition, whose centrepiece is a knitted catch of fish, will also visit Folkestone and Hastings.

BBC South East Today's Jane Witherspoon spoke to artist Dan Chilcott and Margate resident Peggy Company.
