A charity football match is being held in memory of a Middlesbrough student who died in the Lake District.

Matthew Jordan was last seen in Bowness-on-Windermere during a night out with friends on 27 March.

Following a major search operation, the body of the 20-year-old was found in Windermere on 15 April.

Friends have organised a tournament to raise money for the local mountain rescue teams which assisted in the searches.

Sam Williams, one of those involved in the event, said that he hoped it would be held annually.

"No-one would think to support the mountain rescue, really, until something happens to one of your close friends.

"Then everyone pulls together, and thinks, yeah, it's a good cause."
