Lake District body identified as Christopher Blowman

Scafell and Scafell Pike from Crinkle Crags Mr Blowman failed to return from a walk at mountain beauty spot

A body found on a mountain in the Lake District has been formally identified as that of a missing Lincolnshire man.

Christopher Blowman, of Carlton, Louth, was reported missing on Wednesday after he failed to return from a walk on Scafell Pike.

Mountain rescue teams and police later found the 67-year-old's body at Piers Gill - one of the steepest inclines in the area.

Police said they were not treating the death as suspicious.

Piers Gill is an accident blackspot and a difficult route in poor visibility, Wasdale Mountain Rescue said.
