A lorry driver who was arrested after a fatal pile-up on the M26 in Kent has been released on bail.

The 45-year-old was arrested after the five-vehicle crash on the London-bound carriageway near Kemsing on Wednesday morning. Both carriageways were closed for hours after the crash.

Two French nationals, a woman aged 22, and a 16-year-old girl died from their injuries. Seven others were injured.

The man has been released on bail until 15 August, Kent Police said.

The M26 links the M25 with the M20, joining London by road with the Channel Tunnel at Folkestone and the Port of Dover.
