A manhunt for a Leicester man who killed an Army officer in a crash in Nottinghamshire has begun after he absconded from a Derbyshire prison.

Martin Casey, 28, was sentenced to eight years in 2011 after he smashed into the back of Maj Rich Angove's car at 80mph in a 40mph zone.

Maj Angove, who was on his way home to Gloucestershire after attending his mother's funeral, died at the scene.

Casey, who has an Irish accent, absconded from HMP Sudbury earlier.

He is described as being about 5ft 8ins tall, slim, with short brown hair and blue eyes.

His last known address was in Leicester.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact Derbyshire Police.
