Two councils have merged the management of their waste services as part of efforts to save £200,000 a year.

Cherwell District Council and South Northamptonshire Council have cut five management posts and made two people redundant to create a single management team of six people.

The departments began sharing recycling banks, commercial waste services and bin deliveries in the autumn.

The councils also plan to merge their rubbish collection operations.
