A34 delays after horses hit by lorry near Oxford

Long delays have been reported on the A34 in Oxfordshire after two horses which had escaped from a field were hit by a lorry and killed.

The road was shut northbound between Peartree Interchange in Oxford and Weston-on-the-Green in the early hours.

It was later reopened but drivers reported delays near the scene during the morning rush-hour.

Thames Valley Police's Insp Paul Winks said officers managed to save five other horses which had also escaped.
