East of England Ambulance NHS Trust's interim chairman has been named.

Sarah Boulton will take over the role, which has a salary of £37,146, from Dr Geoff Harris, who resigned from the post in January.

Ms Boulton previously chaired other NHS organisations, including NHS Midlands and the East Strategic Health Authority.

Trust chief executive Dr Anthony Marsh said she would bring "a wealth of experience and expertise" to the role.

Ms Boulton said: "This is a great opportunity to work with the board, staff and volunteers at the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust and be part of the team to improve the service.

"This is going to take time but having met with new chief executive Dr Marsh, I am pleased with the actions which have already been put in place and the progress being made."

The recruitment process to find a permanent chairman would begin in the next few weeks, the trust said.
