Ellesmere Port Asda bottle attack suspect charged

A man has been charged over an attack at a supermarket in Cheshire in which a police officer and worker were injured.

Police said a man went into the store in Market Square, Ellesmere Port and started throwing bottles on Friday.

A police officer was taken to hospital with a cut to his hand and a member of staff member was believed to have got glass in his eye.

A man, 59, from Ellesmere Port has been charged with wounding, assault, affray and criminal damage.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Chester magistrates later.
