Man bailed after terror arrest at Gatwick Airport

A 21-year-old man has been arrested at Gatwick Airport on suspicion of training for terrorism overseas.

The man was held by Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command (SO15) officers after he got off a flight from Istanbul, Turkey.

He was arrested on suspicion of an offence contrary to Section 6 of the Terrorism Act 2006 and later bailed.

The police said the arrest was "not in response to any immediate threat or risk".

A spokesman said he was taken into custody at a north London police station. He has since been bailed to return on Friday.
