Widnes 'hit-and-run': Warrington cyclist critical

A cyclist believed to be the victim of a hit-and-run crash in Cheshire is in a critical condition in hospital.

Police said the 47-year-old man from Great Sankey, Warrington was found with serious head injuries by a passing motorist on the A57 Warrington Road, Bold Heath, near Widnes at 06:40 GMT.

Officers believe a vehicle collided with a white racing bike and failed to stop.

Police appealed for the driver of the vehicle involved to come forward.

Sgt Jason Higham, of Merseyside Police, also appealed to anyone who witnessed the incident or have seen a vehicle with damage to the front passenger side that looks new to contact them.
