Lye man, 55, 'tried to meet 13-year-old girl for sex'

A 55-year-old man has appeared in court charged with attempting to meet a 13-year-old girl he met online for sex.

Pervez Akhtar, of Lye, in the West Midlands, appeared at Leamington Magistrates' Court, where he was also charged with dangerous driving.

It is alleged he drove at another man and broke his leg during an incident in Cedar Road in Nuneaton, Warwickshire.

Mr Akhtar is accused of trying to meet the child after communicating with her on social networking site badoo.com.

It is alleged he planned to have sexual activity with her in Worcester.

Mr Akhtar pleaded not guilty to both charges and was bailed to appear at Warwick Crown Court on 23 May.
