A14 toll road: Relief as 'unfair' plan to be scrapped

3 December 2013 Last updated at 16:11 GMT

Businesses in Suffolk have welcomed news that the government's plan to turn part of the A14 into a toll road is to be scrapped.

In September the government announced a £1.5 billion scheme to upgrade the road, with a stretch between Ellington and the Cambridge services near Boxworth made into a toll route.

But Chief Secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander is expected to announce soon that the toll plan has been dropped.
