A 31-year-old man has denied murdering a scaffolder who was shot dead in a Hove street.

Xhem Krasniqi, 31, an Albanian national living in Kent, died in hospital after being shot in the abdomen in Church Road on 18 May.

Edmund Nela, also 31, of no fixed abode, denied murder, two counts of attempted murder and possession of a firearm at Lewes Crown Court on Friday.

Mr Nela was remanded in custody to appear for trial on 13 January 2013.

Mr Krasniqi was shot while he was out walking with his brother and nephew in Church Road.
