Gino Di Caprio in court over surrogate child scam in Reading

A man has appeared in court over an alleged scam in which a deaf couple paid money for a surrogate child who did not exist.

Gino Di Caprio, 52, of Old Row, Rossendale, Lancashire, is accused of obtaining an undisclosed sum of money from the couple in Reading, Berkshire.

He was remanded in custody until his next appearance on 25 November.

Reading Crown Court was told the alleged fraud took place between January 2012 and August 2013.
