A woman who died in a crash on the A5 in Shropshire has been named by police.

Laura Jane Thomas, 20, from Great Haywood, Stafford had been travelling in a Vauxhall Astra on the westbound carriageway of the A5 between Telford and Shrewsbury on Sunday.

It is thought the car was stationary when it was hit by a lorry at about 08:25 BST, West Mercia Police said.

Ms Thomas died en route to hospital. Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses.

A 19-year-old man who was also in the Astra was treated for head injuries and the lorry driver was not hurt, police said.
